Whitmarsh House has received a three-year accreditation for Out-of-Home Treatment: Mental Health (Children and Adolescents) from the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), an international accrediting body.
Founded in 1966 as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities,
CARF International is an independent, nonprofit accreditor of human service providers in the areas of aging services, behavioral health, child and youth services, DMEPOS, employment and community services, and medical rehabilitation. The CARF family of organizations currently accredits more than 5,000 providers at close to 18,000 locations in the United States, Canada, Western Europe, and South America. Close to 6 million persons of all ages are served annually by CARF-accredited providers.
The accreditation process involved a rigorous review of every aspect of the agency,
the culmination of five years of preparation by the Whitmarsh Board Members and Staff. During the on-site review, the team of CARF surveyors met with a cross section of people including Staff, Board Members, former Whitmarsh residents, DCYF representatives, legislators, neighbors and agencies with whom Whitmarsh collaborates, interviewed Staff, visited the facilities and reviewed clinical records. The reviewers evaluated Whitmarshs services for quality, and then outlined strengths, areas that need improvement and made recommendations.
